TORONTO - (May 17, 2023) Speaking along the Waterfront Trail this morning, Ana Bailão pledged to improve access to green spaces and recreation for families and all Torontonians by expanding Bike Share locations especially in the suburbs. As Mayor she will work with Toronto Parking Authority to fast-track the five-year expansion and focus on the following key areas:
- Ensuring Bike Share coverage across the Waterfront Trail from the furthest West end to the furthest East end of Toronto;
- Incorporating Bike Share into the Etobicoke hydro corridor park; and
- Increasing the number of Bike Share stations across Scarborough, and North York.
This faster expansion will be fully offset by projected revenue from Toronto Parking Authority, including parking fees and tickets.
Ana said “We need to be making life easier and better for all Torontonians. The whole city supports Bike Share and all residents should have easy access to it. Improving Bike Share service across Toronto is about expanding access to recreation and the outdoors, giving people more transportation options, and improving quality of life for our residents. Bike Share is an affordable and fun way for residents to enjoy our city but it must be available across Toronto.”
